What is a feed? |
|
A feed is a list of content entries. Each entry contains a separate article/story/summary, a publication date, and one or more links back to a website where the original content is found. The main purpose of a feed is to provide a structured view of website data. Feeds are often associated with blogs, but they can be used with any website content. Publishing a feed is often referred to as syndication. Feed FormatsA feed is a document that follows a predefined format. Most feeds are written using XML — they're meant to be easily understood by computers, not humans. The most common feed formats are RSS ("Really Simple Syndication") and Atom. Most feeds are generated automatically by blogging or content management software. For More InformationSee the Wikipedia entry for web feed. |
